Since the first KOI conference held in 1991, which is organized by a group of Croatian and Slovenian researchers, Croatian Operational Research Society organizes KOI conferences since 1992. In 1996, KOI conference becomes international, and since then Croatian Operational Research Society organizes KOI conference in Croatia every two years.

Publications from previous KOI conferences
From 1991-2008 the papers that were presented at the conference and positively reviewed, were published at the conference proceedinigs.
Since 2010, instead of conference proceedings, the conference organizers publish positively reviewed selected papers from the conference in the Croatian Operational Research Review journal.
In addition, the Book of abstracts is also published containing abstracts of papers accepted for the KOI conference.
