The new issue of CRORS News – Volume 4, Number 1 (April 2018) is published. The autumn/winter issue of Croatian Operational Research Review (CRORR) journal – Volume 8, Number 2, 2017 is published. The issue consists of 18 original scientific papers from the area of operational research and related areas, such as applied mathematics, simulation, machine learning and other areas. All scientific papers were sent to at least two independent reviewers for a blind peer review process
The spring issue of Croatian Operational Research Review (CRORR) journal – Volume 8, Number 1, 2017 is published. The issue consists of 22 original scientific papers from the area of operational research and related areas, such as applied mathematics, simulation, machine learning and other areas.
The new presidency committee of Croatian Operations Research Society (CRORS), president – associate professor Zrinka Lukač, vice president – assistant professor Josip Arnerić, secretary – assistant professor Anita Čeh Časni and treasurer – senior assistant Berislav Žmuk respectively, took over the management of the society by authorization and administration transfer from the former presidency members. The former president of the society professor Marijana Zekić Sušac and former treasurer Adela Has held a meeting with new presidency members at Faculty of Economics and Business Zagreb on 25th November, 2016. The new president of the society professor Zrinka Lukač has expressed her gratitude to the previous management for their support and congratulated them for successfully leading the society in the last 4 years as well as expressed her hopes for further cooperation.
Less than a month before KOI 2016! The Preliminary Program of KOI 2016 conference is announced. This year we have a record number of participants (237) from 25 countries, 119 contributed paper, 5 invited lectures, 2 keynote lectures in Special Section on IPM and Related Methods. Join us at KOI 2016 and benefit from outstanding speakers, such as Jakob Krarup (University of Kopenhagen), Andrew Barron (Yale University), Francisco Martinez Alvarez (Pablo de Olavide University Seville), Marko Bohanec (Jozef Stefan Institute Ljubljana), Tibor Illes (University of Technology and Economics Budapest), Florian Potra (University of Maryland), and Kees Roos (Technical University of Delft). The Round Table on OR in Education will also be organized during the conference chaired by Kristina Soric with Hans Ittman (University of Johannesburg) as a guest speaker. Assistant professor Yichen Qin from University of Cincinnati, Lindner College of Business, Department of Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems, USA gave a lecture for CRORS members at the Faculty of Economics and Business – Zagreb, on July 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. (lecture room 34). The 3rd Call for papers KOI2016 (pdf) is announced. The deadline for sending abstracts is extended to July 24, 2016. We invite all researchers in the area of OR and related areas (applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, information systems, machine learning etc.) to join us at this warm-atmosphere conference in Osijek, Croatia! At this conference, we have prepared five excellent invited speakers, interesting regular sections, and the Special Section on Interior-Point Methods and Related Areas” in honor of Goran Lesaja (Georgia Southern University) on occasion of this 60th birthday. Also, the Round table on OR in Education will be held where Hans Ittman will present the results of the study on OR/MS in Education, presented also at EURO 2016 in Poznan. We have prepared an exciting social program with excursion to Ilok city and Danube river. Join us in Osijek, share your research ideas and contribute the development of OR community!
28th European Conference on Operational Research EURO 2016 conference was held in Poznan, Poland from July 3-6, 2016. Four members of our Croatian Operational Research Society (Goran Lesaja, Tunjo Peric, Marijana Zekic-Susac, Kristina Soric) were among 2000 participants who presented their papers at the conference, and Goran Lesaja was also chairing a section. As official HDOI (CRORS) representatives Marijana Zekic-Susac and Kristina Soric also participated EURO Council Meeting, IFORS Meeting, and the OR/MS in Education Panel. The full report from EURO 2016 will be presented to HDOI (CRORS) members at the Annual Meeting, while here we bring some of the photos from this event.
HDOI member Ivan Marović, Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Rijeka, received the Award for young scientists of 2015 from the Croatian Academy of Engineering. We congratulate to our member, and wish him even more accomplishments in the future.

With the new editor, Josip Arnerić, this issue brings reports on CRORS (HDOI) activities in 2015 and in the beginning of 2016, reports from EURO Glasgow 2015, SOR 2015, EECC 2015, DEA 2015, CRORS Workshop on Neural Networks and other reports. In addition, professors Jakob Krarup and Graham K. Rand wrote the article “In memoriam to Maurice F. Shutler (1931-2015)” . The team members of EURO research group on OR/MS in education report the first results of their “European Study on OR/MS Education”.
